About the SLTR-700
After Mar-Bel ceased manufacturing due to the impact of Hurricane Ian in 2022, SNX worked closely with their team to continue supporting the machines still in operation—and to bring new units to market with their full support. The result is a slitter that honors Mar-Bel’s original U.S. Patent #3,496,812 design while incorporating SNX’s engineering expertise, domestic production capabilities, and ongoing customer support. With Mar-Bel’s blessing, SNX now produces this iconic machine under the name Mar-Bel by SNX.
The SLTR-700 is specifically designed to help woodworking shops efficiently prep their edgebanding material by cutting coils to custom heights. Using a robust three-blade die system, it produces an ultra-clean 1/16” kerf with minimal blade wear and virtually no dust—making it an ideal prep solution for both straight-line and contour edgebanding workflows.
Like its predecessor, the SLTR-700 is a versatile machine built to last. It can easily handle vertical and countertop grade laminates without adjustment, making it a valuable tool for a wide range of applications—from high-volume panel shops to custom furniture builders. And thanks to its durable die system, sharpening needs are minimal—providing excellent long-term value and reducing your total cost of ownership.
We’re officially debuting the SLTR-700 at AWFS Fair 2025, July 22–25 in Las Vegas. Visit SNX Technologies at Booth #1701 for a live demonstration and see how this compact, cost-effective solution fits into your shop’s production flow. Meet the team behind the machine, ask questions, and explore how the SLTR-700 pairs with our industry-leading contour edgebanders for a complete material handling solution.
SLTR-700 Technical & Operational Features
Blade System & Sharpening
The self-feeding operation combined with the die’s precision helps extend blade life significantly and maintain cut quality across a variety of laminate thicknesses without frequent adjustments.
Over the decades, two primary blade configurations have been used in Mar-Bel-style slitters: Style A and Style B.
Blades can be sharpened 4–7 times.

FAQs
What does the SLTR-700 do?
The SLTR-700 is a laminate slitter that cuts edgebanding material to custom widths. It uses a three-blade die system to create clean, precise strips that can be fed into contour or straight-line edgebanders.
Is the SLTR-700 based on the original Mar-Bel slitter?
Yes! SNX manufactures the SLTR-700 based on the original U.S. patented Mar-Bel design, with full permission to use the Mar-Bel name and support legacy customers.
What blade configuration does the SLTR-700 use?
The SLTR-700 comes set up for Style B blades (two 1/8″ bottom blades and one 1/16″ top blade), the standard since 1973. It is not compatible with Style A blades without retrofit.
How often do the blades need to be sharpened?
With proper use, SLTR-700 blades can typically be sharpened 4 to 7 times. SNX offers in-house sharpening services and replacement blades to support long-term operation.
What types of laminate can the SLTR-700 cut?
The SLTR-700 can cut a wide variety of laminate materials, including vertical grade, countertop grade, and specialty finishes—without needing adjustment for thickness.
What’s the minimum cut width?
The machine can cut as narrow as 1/2″ wide, depending on fence adjustment and material type.
Does the machine require dust collection?
No. The SLTR-700 uses a non-wear extractor blade to remove the 1/16″ kerf, resulting in a dust-free operation.
Can the machine be used by entry-level operators?
Absolutely. Once the fence is properly aligned, the machine is easy to run and does not require highly-skilled labor—making it perfect for freeing up other equipment.
Is the SLTR-700 made in the USA?
Yes. SNX Technologies manufactures the SLTR-700 at its facility in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, continuing the Mar-Bel tradition with American-made quality and support.
