The Servo Trimming Station, Explained

On a standard contour edgebander, every change in banding type or panel thickness means stopping to readjust the trimming unit by hand. It's a small task on its own, but across a busy shift — and across every operator who has to get it right — those minutes add up, and so do the inconsistencies. The servo trimming station is built to take that variable off the table.

Instead of manual readjustment, computer-controlled servo motors position the top and bottom trim heads for you. Dial in your settings and the machine handles the precise positioning automatically, delivering the same accurate trim on the first part of a run as the last — and on the first part after a material change as the one before it. For operators, that means less setup and fewer chances to introduce error. For the shop, it means more consistent finished parts with less hands-on time between jobs.

The payoff is clearest in high-mix production. If your team switches between different tape types and board thicknesses throughout the day, the servo station is where the time savings live. The nVision platform bands curved work surfaces up to 5′ × 10′ and weights up to 230 lbs. It accommodates board thicknesses from .5″ to 2.25″ and edgebanding tape from .5mm to 3mm. The G2-S extended base frame is built to support larger and heavier panels during simultaneous banding and trimming.

Both machines work with a range of edgebanding materials, including PVC, ABS, and wood veneer, with tape thicknesses from .5mm to 3mm — giving you flexibility across a variety of projects.

Both machines feature a 15″ touchscreen monitor, a faster processor, and a high-precision encoder, plus built-in training and maintenance videos and internet connectivity for remote service and software updates. Barcode capability is available as an option.

Every nVision G1-S and G2-S includes on-site installation and training, free phone support, an operation manual, and a one-year limited warranty. All machines are made in the USA in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
